Server Versions lets you switch your server type and Minecraft version in a few clicks.
Which type should I pick?
It depends on what you want to add to your server:
- Just vanilla Minecraft: Vanilla
- Plugins (EssentialsX, LuckPerms…): Paper or Purpur
- Mods (Create, JEI…): Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, depending on the mods you use
- Linking several servers together: Velocity
Mods only work on the loader they were made for.
Change your server version
- Open Server Versions in the menu on the left. At the top, you can see what your server is running right now.
- Pick the type of server you want, for example Paper.
- Choose your Minecraft version. The newest is at the top, or search for a version, like
1.21. - Click Install next to the version you want.
- Delete Old Files wipes everything on your server, including your world. Leave it switched off, unless you want a completely fresh start.
- Click Install.
- Once it's installed, start your server.
Good to know
- You can update to a newer Minecraft version, but going back to an older version can break your world. Take a backup first. See Upgrade your server version.
- A different Minecraft version may need a different Java version. See Change your Java version.
- Need a specific Fabric, Forge or NeoForge version? See Install Fabric manually.
