Install Fabric manually

Install Fabric manually

Versions, mods & modpacks · Updated 27 October 2026

Server Versions installs Fabric for you in one click. Install it yourself when you need a specific Fabric Loader version, for example to match a modpack.

Before you start

Switching from Paper? Back up your world first, because a Paper world may not load on Fabric. See Back up and restore your server. Then stop your server.

Download Fabric

  1. Go to https://fabricmc.net/use/server
  2. Choose your Minecraft version, and the Fabric Loader version you need.
  3. Click Executable Server to download it.

Install it on your server

  1. In your panel, open Server Files.
  2. Move the old server jar out of the way: right-click server.jar, and rename it to something like server-old.jar.
  3. Click Upload, and choose the Fabric file you downloaded.
  4. Rename it to server.jar, exactly like that, so your server knows to start it.
  5. Start your server. The first start downloads Fabric, so it takes a little longer. In the console, you'll see it loading with Fabric Loader.

Once it works, you can delete server-old.jar. Now add your mods to the mods folder, and you're ready to go.
