Reset your world

Reset your world

Worlds · Updated 27 October 2026

Start fresh with a brand new world. There are two ways to do it:

  • Keep your old world: rename the world folder, for example to world-old.
  • Don't need it: delete the world folder.

Either way, a new world is made when your server starts.

Reset your world

  1. Stop your server.
  2. Open Server Files. To keep the old world, right-click the world folder and choose Rename.
  3. Call it something like world-old, and press Enter. If you'd rather delete it, choose Delete instead.
  4. Start your server. It makes a brand new world for you.

On Paper and Purpur, the Nether and the End are kept in their own folders, world_nether and world_the_end. Rename or delete those too for a completely fresh start.

Go back to your old world

  1. Stop your server.
  2. Delete the new world folder.
  3. Rename world-old back to world.
  4. Start your server.
