My server is crashing due to a Java runtime compile version error?

If you have recently updated to Minecraft 1.20.5 or above, you may see a error like below. Not to worry, this is simply due to this version of Minecraft utilising a newer version of Java.

' has been compiled by a more recent version of the java Runtime (class file version 65.0), this version of the Java runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 61.0 '

To fix this, first stop your server completely. 

Then head to the Settings tab and locate the Java version dropdown as shown below.

We would reccomend refreshing your page at this point. Some browsers seem to cache the dropdown. Please refresh before continuing. 

Select "Java 21". Then you can start your server again!
