We are excited to announce that we have finally rolled out our new Off-site Backup system! This is something we have been wanting to improve behind the scenes for a long time now.
All nodes are officially linked up to our new system - however, due to the sheer amount of files that need to be synced initially please note that the new system will "officially" be live from Friday 21st April 2023 Midnight UTC. Therefore, please do not assume it is working until thereafter this date.
What is it, and what is new?
How much is this?
Our new 7 Day Off-site backup system is included at no extra charge as always to our existing clients* at the current time. This is subject to change, however, regardless any existing clients will always have this free of charge.
If you have a private dedicated server or an extremely large world your service may be excluded however you will be contacted beforehand if this is the case. Frequent abuse use of the backup system may lead to extra fees or exclusion of the system, please still use the Backups tab and maintain your own local backups as you would.
How do i request a backup?
There is now a new Support Ticket Department labeled "Backup Requests" as shown below. You can alternatively access it directly here - https://billing.piglinhost.com/submitticket.php?step=2&deptid=7
In the ticket, please include what date you would like a backup from. Please note the backup will override your current server files so please save anything you need to. This will not affect any of your Backups in the Backups tab.
Please note you need to be logged in to see this department. If you are not logged into your Billing area you will not be able to request. Due to th nature of this, at this time we will not be allow any request from Discord or Sub-users.
How long does it take to restore a backup?
Our turnaround time for Backup requests is slightly different from our usual speedy replies due to the fact these are stored off-site and are securely encrypted. During Business hours, requests will be responded to within 30-60 minutes (Usually a lot quicker). Outside, please allow up to 6-8 hours.
Please note the restoration time can vary depending on how large your server files are. If you are a large world, for example, it will take significantly longer to restore a backup compared to a small world. We will keep you updated via your Backup request Ticket.
Are the off-site backups safe?
Yes. Our off-site systems can not be accessed publically and all backups are encrypted off-site.
