Hey all - it's that time of the month for another update. If you are on our Discord server, you are most likely already aware we had some huge panel updates shifted this month which we are happy to say have been completed! Below you can find some of the key changes that have been made, as well as our future plans and updates!
We are committed to providing our clients the best experience, and if your are already a client with us - you know our main goal is to ensure all of our clients are looked after.
Panel Updates
Please note a lot more has gone on behind the scenes, below are the main noticeable differences.
General Performance / Bugfixes / Security
We have made a few improvements to the panel and our nodes to ensure they run smoothly - we are hoping this is keeping all servers running as best as possible. For Fabric servers, this means we can add additional flags to help your server's performance. Due to Forge's new startup structure, sadly it no longer supports flags however its something we are keen to improve where we can. The usual bugfixes and security patches are part of this.
SFTP Button
You may have noticed there is a new SFTP button on the main page! (SFTP is the same as FTP but secure - you may recognise the term FTP from other hosts, ours is the same just secure - SFTP allows you to upload/download files easily using third party tools such as FileZilla and is something we recommend, you can find a guide on setting this up in our FAQ)
Now, all you simply need to do (Providing you have FileZilla/WinSCP or whatever FTP program you desire installed) is click the SFTP button, and it will automatically open your desired program and prefill your details for you! No more hassling about copying usernames over.
New Look
The panel has undergone some visual upgrades too - we want to ensure its still simple to use and not bloated - we understand clients prefer our panel due to its simplicity and therefore we have made minor touches that we feel make it a better experience. This includes custom Branded Logos across the Login/Status pages (Such as installing for example), as well as the navigation bar. We have also added small icons next to the navigation buttons to make them much easier readability wise! We have also made a few other simple touches such as footer changes and some Cloudflare changes on how the panel is cached.
There is also new added features such as a status for how long your service has been online for for better restart management!
Loading Status
With the in-built file manager, when you upload a file rather than a spinning loading circle there is now information regarding the file-size being uploaded as well as its progress!
Off-Site Backups
This is currently in the pipeline and is being setup as we speak. Please join our Discord server for the latest updates. Further details will be released at the time, however, we can confirm this will be setup for all PiglinHost services with us at no extra cost.
Future Plans
We will continue to keep up with Security/Bug fixes throughout, as well as general performance changes. Our next noticeable upgrade will be our SSO for our control panel. This will mean that you are able to login to your control panel with your billing account (So you do not have a separate login for each) - this will make it much more streamlined especially for new clients - as currently, clients need to set up an account after purchase.
We are also looking at some Discord integrations and improvements - this will include looking at a revamped billing area and website including some new integration. Details to follow.
We have some other ideas in the works, however, this is our current main new updates we are looking for in the near future.
